In class on Tuesday, students completed the mathspace task: review of systems of linear equations and inequalities.  All work evidence was collected before dismissal.

In class on Monday, students completed the Linear Equations and Inequalities Custom Task in mathspace.  Please continue to work on this task from home and show work for all problems on a single sheet of paper.  Work evidence will be collected tomorrow at the beginning of class.  See the attached class notes for assistance.

In class on Wednesday, students completed lesson: Distributive and Binomial Expansion from the Algebra and Units Chapter to earn mastery of 70% or higher.  Please finish at home if you did not meet your target in class.  Five evidence problems were to have been stamped and turned in before dismissal.

In class on Monday, we began our Final Exam Review Unit.  The assignment was to complete the Fast Track Assessment for Integers, Coordinate Plane and Absolute Value Expressions in mathspace.  All work must have been shown on a piece of paper for a stamp.  If you did not finish the fast track, remember mathspace will lock you out of it for 3 days before you can attempt to retake it.  

 

Please remember that Tuesday is a sub day and so your assignment worksheet will need to be turned in to the sub before dismissal. Also, work as a team to maintain a positive learning atmosphere and earn an EXCELLENT behavior note if you want to keep all of your daily participation points.  

 

 

In class on Friday, students completed the assessment score record to see score trends for this semester's quizzes/tests.  Any make ups or retakes should have been taken at lunch on Friday to meet my Late Work Deadline.

 

If you still have lessons in mathspace to make up, you have until midnight on Friday to send me an email with a list of lessons you would like me to enter late scores for.  Remember to earn a minimum mastery of 70%.

In class on Wednesday, students worked to earn mastery in lesson 13.7: Translations on a Cartesian Plane.  Work evidence was completed on notebook page 153 and was stamped before dismissal if complete.  If you did not meet your mastery targets, please finish on your own time and notify me when I can give you late credit.

In class on Tuesday, students completed the first page of Cornell Notes 2 on notebook page 154.  Please take notes on 13.6: Translations on a Cartesian Plane and 13.7: Reflections on a Cartesian Plane.  Please follow through with highlighter study strategies and costa questions.  

 

If you are interested in improving your grade, remember to use the missing assignment report from Monday and make an appointment for lunch tutoring to turn in your work or retake quizzes/tests.  Late work deadline is Friday May 5th.

In class on Wednesday, students completed lesson 3: Rotations in mathspace's Congruence chapter.  Stamps were given once 5 evidence problems were shown on paper.

In class on Tuesday, students completed Cornell notes from the ebook on lessons 13.3: Rotations and 13.4: Combined Transformations.  Afterward, students did a pair share review activity as the pass out of class.

In class on Monday, students worked to earn 70% mastery on lesson 13.2: Reflections.  Work evidence that was completed was stamped for on time credit.

In class on Friday, students took cornell notes on the firsts two lessons of chapter 13: Congruence from the mathspace ebook.  Please copy two chunks of notes on Lesson 1: Translations and Lesson 2: Reflections.  After, we did a pair share cornell notes review activity as the pass out of class.

Thursday was a sub day.  In class, students were to complete lesson 1 (Translations) of chapter 13: Congruence to earn a mastery of 70% or higher.  Work evidence was stamped by the substitute for on time credit.

No classes held on Wednesday due to CAASPP testing for juniors, and PSAT10 testing for sophomores and freshmen.  

In class on Monday, students prepared for the upcoming PSAT10 and CAASPP testing by showing work evidence from the online practice test website.  All work evidence was due before dismissal.

In class on Monday, we completed HW Quiz 3 Corrections in our notebook's page 141.  Please be sure to follow the 3 column set up with "Mistake/Redo/Steps."

 

Tuesday, there will be a HW Quiz 3 retake and so remember to update missing assignments in your notebook, since you can use it as a resource.

In class on Friday, students completed HW Quiz 3 (part 1) in mathspace.  Once all 9 problems had evidence on page 139 in the notebooks, students earned a quiz stamp.  Afterwards, students completed HW Quiz 3 (part 2) by using a protractor and compass to make constructions of and measure angles.  This part was turned in before dismissal.  

 

You may work on your 3-column quiz 3 corrections over break to earn a stamp when we return.  Please put them on page 141 in the notebook

 

 

 

In class on Wednesday, students worked to complete mastery of mathspace lesson 12.16: Names in Circles.  The work evidence was stamped on page 137 of the notebook.

 

To prepare for Friday's HW Quiz 3, please be sure to achieve mastery on lessons Angles in Quadrilaterals, Lengths in Quadrilaterals, Names in Circles and Properties of Quadrilaterals.

In class on Monday, students took one chunk of Cornell Notes from lesson 12.16: Names in Circles on notebook page 138.  Be sure to include a picture of the 16 vocabulary terms.  After this chunk a summary was written on the same page for the stamp.

Friday was a sub day, students were to complete Mathspace Lesson 12.8: Lengths in Quadrilaterals and show their work evidence on page 135 for the sub to stamp.

In class on Thursday, students worked to achieve 70% mastery or higher on lesson 12.7: Angles in Quadrilaterals.  The 5 evidence problems were to be shown on page 135 of the notebook for a stamp.

In class on Wednesday, students completed corrections for HW Quiz 2 on page 133 in the notebook.  Remember to follow the 3 column format "Mistake/Redo/Steps."

 

After, students finished Cnotes 2's second page based off of lessons 7 and 8 in mathspace.  Page 136 in the notebook was stamped if it was completed in class. 

In class on Tuesday, students completed Cornell Notes 2 using the geometry textbooks (6.1-6.4) in class.  The topics are Angles and Lengths of Quadrilaterals and there were several pages that could be used as a resource.  See the attached image below.  Notes were to be taken on pages 134 and 136 of your notebooks.  I will stamp in class on Wednesday.

 

 

In class on Monday, students completed HW Quiz 2 in mathspace.  It was based off of Lessons 1, 3, 4, and 5.  Page 131 was stamped when evidence was complete.

Friday was a sub day.  The assignment was to  complete lesson 12.5:Lines, Segments and Rays in mathspace to earn a mastery of 70% or higher.  Once 5 evidence problems were recorded onto page 129 of the notebook, the substitute awarded the daily stamp.

 

Students who finished early were advised to make up any missing work in mathspace or in notebooks.

Thursday was a sub day.  The assignment was to take one chunk of notes from the lesson 12.5 E-book on Lines, Segments and Rays and put it on page 132 of the notebook.  Afterward, students summarized all of cnotes 1 on the same page.  Once these two tasks were done, students earned a stamp from the substitute.

Due to Leadership Day schedule, no classes were held on Wednesday and so no additional work was assigned.  

 

Remember that Thursday is a Sub Day!  Please remember to complete all assignments and earn your stamp before class is dismissed.

In class on Tuesday, students worked to earn mastery on lesson 4: Types of Quadrilaterals.  Work evidence was stamped on page 129 before dismissal.

In class on Monday, students worked to earn mastery on Lesson 3: Types of Triangles.  Work evidence was stamped on page 127 (the same page where we put lesson 1's evidence)

In class on Friday, students earned a stamp on page 130 after taking cornell notes from lessons 3 and 4 in the mathspace e-book (Types of Triangles and Types of Quadrilaterals).  

In class on Thursday, we set up Unit 6: Geometry in our notebooks. Please see the attached TOC for organization.  Then, students worked in mathspace to earn mastery on 12.1 Naming Angles and earned a stamp on page 127.

In class on Wednesday, students completed two chunks of cornell notes from the ebook lesson 12.1: Naming Angles in the Geometry chapter in mathspace.  Notes that were completed with highlighting and 2 study questions were stamped before dismissal.

In class on Tuesday, students traded and graded unit 5 in the notebook.  If you did not submit your notebook for grading, attend lunch tutoring as soon as possible to earn 70% late credit for every assignment completed.  

In class on Friday, we completed our Unit 5 Test and then submitted notebooks for grading.

In class on Thursday, we reviewed the substitution and elimination method on the board.  Students then worked in groups to complete both sides of the review worksheet.  To prepare for tomorrow's Unit 5 Test:

-watch mathspace e-book lesson videos

-process cornell notes 1 or 2

-read over notes and lesson evidence to practice graphing/substitution/elimination

-edit/update your gist summary so it is accurate

In class on Tuesday, we worked to complete lesson 6.6 with 70% mastery and evidence in our notebooks was stamped on page 121.

 

 

Please begin preparing your notebooks to be turned in.  

In class on Friday, we completed a written summary of graphing techniques using the GIST strategy.  Then we discussed topics and examples from lesson 6.6: Systems of Inequalities with two Variables.  When we return on Tuesday, we will finish lesson 6 and get our evidence stamped.

In class on Wednesday, we reviewed graphing strategies.  No additional mathspace lessons or stamps were required.  We will continue with this lesson on Thursday.  

 

Please see the attached Table of Contents to assist you with organizing your notebooks.  Feel free to make up any lessons in mathspace that are not at 70% mastery.

In class on Tuesday, students worked to finish yesterday's lesson on Elimination.  A stamp for evidence was put on page 119.

In class on Friday, we collaborated in tutorial groups to work on our Practice Semester 1 Final Exam.  Please be sure to show work evidence on a separate piece of lined paper in two columns (for Work and Steps) on a minimum of 30 problems.  This evidence will be due on the day of your final exam: Tuesday.

In class on Thursday, we set up Unit 4 in our notebooks.  Then, we completed Cornell Notes 1 on graphing linear equations in slope-intercept form.  Please complete worksheet 7.11/7.12 and fill  in the riddle answers to be sure you are correct.

In class, time was spent completing the second side of Worksheet 7.7.  Stamps were given for completed work evidence.

In class, we took 2 chunks of Cornell Notes 1.  We will continue notetaking tomorrow.  Please complete both sides of Worksheet 7.7 on Slope.

In class on Monday, we stamped p.87 if you showed evidence of your HW Quiz 4 work from the sub day.  We also stamped p.89 if you finished your three column quiz corrections.  We did not get to finish our notes, but we will continue them on Tuesday.

Sub Day on Friday.  In class, students took HW Quiz 4 and showed their solutions on page 87 in the notebook.  Afterwards, students completed corrections in three columns on page 89 for any problem that was not green/proficient.  Both of these pages will be stamped on Monday.

In class on Thursday, we took HW Quiz 3 and did the corrections afterward on page 83 in three columns.  After, we continued working in mathspace while I stamped pages 75, 77, 80, and 81.

In class, we completed mathspace lessons 4.1-4.5 to prepare for Thursday's Homework Quiz 3.  Be sure your notebook is ready for stamps as well (pages 75, 77, and 80).

In class, we added to Cnotes 1 with examples from 4.4: Simple Equations and 4.5 Three Step Equations.  Then we continued with mathspace lesson practice on 4.3, 4.4, and 4.5.

In class on Monday, we took the SBAC aligned benchmark exam packet.  Remember, your grade is mostly based on how well you were able to reason through each problem and provide an explanation of your critical thinking process.

In class, we changed our curriculum focus back to USCC Integrated Math 1.  We then took the Unit 2 fast track pre-assessment on Algebra and Units.

IMP 1: US Common Core 6-8,  Ch.1 Whole Numbers and Number Theory and Ch.2 Directed Numbers and Absolute Value

 

IM 1: US Common Core 6-8, Ch.3 Fractions

In class, we finished group presentations and then completed our Unit 1 Cover Page Analysis to find out how many points we earned for each subtopic in Unit 1.  Please make up any lessons that were not 70% or above in proficiency level.

 

 

In class on Tuesday, students were given time to prepare their presentations.  Group presentations followed.  If your group did not have time to present, continue preparing for tomorrow.

In class, I checked Unit 1 TOC parent signatures for those of you who had your notebooks graded and returned to you last Friday.  

 

If you received your notebook back in class on Monday, your parent signature is due Tuesday.

 

In class, we also worked in small groups to prepare a poster and presentation of your assigned math topic.  Groups will present in class tomorrow.

In class on Friday, we completed Unit 1 Test-Part 2.  Part 1 was also activated if you wanted to retake it.  All grades for Unit 1 mathspace lessons, Unit 1 notebook, and your Unit 1 test will be entered.

In class, we continued with grading Unit 1.  Those who did not finish were asked to turn in their notebooks so I can review grades.  Tomorrow we will resume with Unit 1 Testing.

 

If you are interested in extra credit, please sign up for Summit Skate Night on Oct 27th, from 4:30 to 7pm.  Friends and Family are Welcome to Attend (and it earns you more points of extra credit, too!)

In class, we began our Unit 1 notebook trade and grade.  All pages from p.31 to 46 will be graded.  We did not finish in class, so there is still some time to prepare make up work before we finish grading on Thursday.  

 

Tomorrow is a sub day, your Unit 1 Test is scheduled for Wednesday and must be finished in class.  All test scratch work must be neatly organized on a separate piece of paper and turned in to the sub before dismissal.  Make time to study tonight so you can walk into class tomorrow with confidence.

Monday was a sub day.  In class, you were to finish each mathspace lesson in your cover page and prep your notebooks for grading on Tuesday.  Unit 1 Test is scheduled for Wednesday.

Friday was a sub day.  Please make sure every page in unit 1 of your notebook is finished.  Lesson Work must have two lessons per page with at least 5 example problems worked out neatly.  Cornell Notes must have 4 chunks, highlighting, 4 questions, and a summary.  Mathspace lessons that are listed on your cover page must all show a green mark.

In class today, we stamped pages 43 and 45.  Evidence for each quiz problem needed to be shown neatly in order to get a stamp, and all of your mistaken problems should have been corrected in the 3 column format from p.19.  

 

Tomorrow is a sub day, please make sure you are prepared to complete any missing assignments to prepare for your Unit 1 Notebook Grade next week.  Remember to work as a team to earn an EXCELLENT behavior note from your sub and get those 40 points for each day.

In class, we completed HW Quiz 1 Corrections using three column error analysis.  Please see page 19 of your notebook if you need help with that assignment.

 

Stamps for HW Quiz 1 and the corrections will be given tomorrow.  

In class on Tuesday, we studied our notebook's notes and lesson evidence in order to prepare for HW Quiz 1.  

 

HW Quiz 1 was completed in class and work for each problem should have been shown on p.43 of your notebooks.  We will discuss retakes tomorrow in class.

 

Please continue working on any lessons or notes in Unit 1.

In class on Monday, we prepared our notebooks for stamps on our lesson work pages 35, 37, 39, and 41.  If you showed evidence of your homework that was organized and labeled with subtopics, you earned a LIKE stamp.  If your evidence was not done in time, keep working at it and you will be eligible for 7 late points per page when we turn in our notebooks for grading.

 

HW Quiz 1 is scheduled for tomorrow and it is based on Whole Numbers and Directed Numbers Review problems.

Please continue with your mathspace lesson work on any subtopics that were coded as gray colored.  I will be entering grades for lessons 1-8 into the gradebook.  Expect to receive 10 points per lesson that you achieved mastery on.  (green is mastery)

In class, we stamped completed work on pages 32, 33, 34, and CNotes 2 on pages 36, 38, and 40.  Please make up your missing work and notes before next week's when notebooks will be turned in and Unit 1 will be graded.

 

You should be finished with your fast track assessments for this unit and have already begun cornell note taking and lesson practice in mathspace.  Remember, you only have to do the work for topics that were not mastered in the fast track.

In class, we updated our Unit 1 TOC and continued working on topics from Unit 1 in mathspace.  

 

By now, you should have completed your fast track assessments and then highlighted subtopics on your cover page that you need to show improvement on.

 

From those subtopics highlighted on the cover page, take Cnotes 2 and CNotes 3, and complete lessons for those subtopics as well.  

 

Please attend lunch tutoring if you are falling behind.

In class on Friday, we worked to complete Lesson 3's fast track on Fractions (US Common Core 6-8) so you may begin taking CNotes 2 on any 4 topics that you were not proficient in.  (gray color coding).  Please include math example problems and solution steps in every chunk of notes.   Take time this weekend to get caught up, if you have fallen behind.

Please finish your fractions fast track test on mathspace if you did not finish in class.  (remember this was located in the US Common Core 6-8 Curriculum, so change your curriculum focus if needed)

 

Once you get your fast track assessment results, you will know where to start taking Cornell Notes.

In class, we completed our mathspace tasks and turned in make up assignments.

 

Don't forget that yours and your parent's attendance at back to school night (signing in on my attendance sheets) will earn you triple participation extra credit points!

If your notebook was graded in class, please be sure to get your parent's signature and date on the Unit 0 TOC.  Also, log in to mathspace and finish your tasks.

 

 

Please be sure your notebook is prepared for grading on Tuesday, with highlighter evidence on each page.  Also, be sure that you subscribed to section 2 on our class website.  Please continue working on your tasks in mathspace.  If you are having trouble seeing which tasks are for my class, look for the deadline marked for 11:55 pm, as I will always set the midnight deadline.

No school - due to observance of Labor Day 

In class on Thursday, we subscribed to our correct homework posts page section/class/period using our professional email addresses.

 

Unit 0 is due tomorrow, so we organized Unit 0 and added highlighter evidence to each page.  This notebook's Unit 0 grade will add up to  approximately 220 points, so be sure all pages are stapled/glued in their proper place.
